Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a contractor to undertake the once-off replacement of the refrigeration system at Pinetown Mortuary, including the removal of old components, installation of new refrigeration units (cold rooms and freezers), testing, commissioning, and providing a 12-month warranty with periodic maintenance services.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Decommissioning and removal of existing refrigeration components.
• Supply and installation of complete refrigeration systems for cold rooms and freezers, including piping, backup units, and associated accessories.
• Provision of documentation, asset register, and soft copies of system details.
• Testing, commissioning, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
• Warranty coverage for 12 months, including quarterly and annual maintenance services.
• Adherence to safety, quality standards, and site-specific requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Replacement of entire refrigeration systems for cold rooms and freezers, with specified capacity and performance parameters.
• Use of specified models for condensing units, blower units, and evaporator coils, with detailed performance and dimension parameters.
• Installation of backup units with automatic rotation, bluechem coil treatment, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Warranty of 24 months on all components and installation, including services and repairs.
• Provision of redundant materials, spare parts, and proper disposal of redundant components.
• Response times of 4 hours for normal breakdowns and 2 hours for emergencies, with 24/7 availability.
• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations, including risk assessments and safety policies.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Registration with SAQCC Gas (Card License Cat B).
• CIDB contractor grading of 2ME or higher.
• Technical management and supervisory staff with refrigeration trade test certificates and relevant experience.
• Proven experience in executing projects of similar scope and complexity, particularly in industrial refrigeration systems.
• Availability of qualified artisans, project personnel, and safety officers.
• Capability to provide comprehensive maintenance, testing, and commissioning services.
• Adherence to safety standards, including submission of safety policies and risk assessments.
