Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a Giga Counter machine with probe that meets the latest technological standards. The equipment is intended for intra-operative identification of sentinel nodes and parathyroids within the Surgery Department of Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Memorial Hospital.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, installation, commissioning, and demonstration of the Giga Counter and probe. It includes providing training to hospital staff, offering technical support, and ensuring the equipment complies with specified standards and specifications. The procurement also involves optional accessories, spare parts, and maintenance services for the equipment's lifecycle.

Technical Requirements

• The Giga Counter machine must be portable, lightweight, and robust, with features including:
  • Read out module with auto setting for Tc99
  • Auto probe identification
  • Large 5-digit display
  • PC port
  • Two sound modes: BIP or FM
  • Storage for 9 customized configurations
  • Carry case included
• Probe specifications:
  • Angled, small, 11mm size, length approximately 197/199mm
• The equipment must support automatic windowing for radioisotopes such as Tc-99m, I-125, I-131, and F-18.
• The device must be powered via mains electricity, portable, and packaged in a durable carry case.
• Guarantee period of at least 24 months, including servicing and calibration.
• Availability of spare parts for at least 10 years from the manufacturer.
• Compliance with international safety standards (e.g., IEC 60601-1, 60601-1-2) and CE certification.
• Equipment must operate off 220V, 50Hz supply with a hospital-grade mains plug.
• Provision of comprehensive manuals, software, calibration tools, and optional accessories.
• Demonstration and training at the hospital site, with technical support and maintenance arrangements.

Skills Requirements

• Manufacturers or authorized agents must have trained technicians with OEM certification for installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of the equipment.
• Service and repair facilities must be established within KwaZulu-Natal, with proof of local presence and qualified personnel.
• Technicians must be available within 24 hours for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Training must be provided to hospital technical staff on calibration, maintenance, and repair down to PCB level, with certification of competency.
• Suppliers must supply detailed manuals, software, and spare parts to ensure ongoing support for at least 10 years.
