Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a competent and experienced service provider to carry out maintenance and repairs on play park equipment within Bergrivier Municipality. The service provider will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and ongoing upkeep of the play park equipment from the date of appointment until 30 June 2026.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Maintenance and repairs of existing play park equipment, including specific items such as whirling platforms/roundabouts and see-saws.
• Construction of new bases for existing equipment, including excavation, laying of porous concrete, installation of wet pour rubber surfaces, and related groundwork.
• Overhaul and refurbishment of play equipment components, including galvanizing, painting, and replacement of mechanical parts.
• Provision of shop drawings, technical specifications, and compliance with safety standards.
• Adherence to specifications for product quality, installation, and safety.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Use of galvanized steel and durable materials for all equipment components.
• Construction of specific playground items such as:
• Whirling platform/roundabout with galvanized components, bearings, and painted finishes in bright colors.
• See-saw with galvanized steel and reinforced beams, complete with seats and hand grips.
• Construction of new bases using porous concrete, kerbing, and wet pour rubber impact surfaces.
• Installation of equipment on concrete pedestals with appropriate anchor bolts.
• Compliance with South African safety standards (SANS 51176 and SANS 51177).
• Provision of warranties: 12 months for equipment and 24 months for rubber surfaces.
• Provision of documentation including shop drawings, certificates of compliance, and proof of insurance (COIDA).

Skills and Experience Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and repair of playground equipment.
• Proven track record with contactable references for similar projects.
• Capability to undertake construction, refurbishment, and repair work adhering to technical specifications and safety standards.
• Registered on the National Treasury’s Central Supplier Database (CSD) with valid tax clearance and B-BBEE verification.
• Ability to provide technical drawings, shop drawings, and detailed specifications prior to commencement of work.
• Availability of own transport and tools to access various sites within the municipal area.
