Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to repair the faulty Medium Voltage (MV) line at Heldestroom Caledon Prison Substation 1A. The work involves replacing and installing electrical components to restore proper functionality of the MV line, ensuring safety and compliance with standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Repairing the faulty MV cable and associated components.
• Replacing damaged or worn-out materials such as MV connection stays, cable support arms with arrestors, frames with post insulators, strain A frames with long rods, 11kV XLPE cables, and other related materials.
• Conducting testing and commissioning of the repaired MV line.
• Providing all necessary materials, tools, and labor for the completion of the repair work.
• Ensuring work is performed within the specified timelines and standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The repair must be carried out in accordance with relevant SANS standards and certificates of compliance must be issued after repairs and installation of new equipment.
• All materials supplied must be approved by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), if applicable.
• The contractor must provide a full breakdown and description of work done, including scope and materials supplied.
• Work must commence within 24 hours of receipt of instruction and be completed within 21 working days.
• All repair work shall carry a guarantee of 6 months.
• Invoices must be accompanied by DPW job cards signed by the client, and all work must be signed off upon completion.

Skills Requirements

The tender specifies that only qualified and competent persons are allowed to perform work on site. The contractor must ensure:

• Personnel are certified and experienced in high-voltage electrical repairs.
• Electricians or technicians hold valid operating certificates, such as ORHVS (Operating Regulation for High Voltage System) certificates.
• All work complies with safety standards and regulations.
• The contractor provides proof of qualifications and certifications for personnel involved in the project.
