Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to install four air conditioning units and service twelve split units at the eThekwini District Office, specifically within the Provincial District Office. The project aims to enhance climate control facilities and ensure proper maintenance of existing split units, supporting the department's operational needs.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Installation of 4 new air conditioning units at designated sites within the eThekwini District Office.
• Servicing and maintenance of 12 existing split air conditioning units.
• Attending site meetings and site inspections as scheduled.
• Providing all necessary materials, equipment, and labor required for installation and servicing.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
• Providing operation and maintenance manuals, asset registers, and warranties.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the project include:

• Supply and installation of inverter-type under-ceiling air conditioning units with controls and electrical connections, including isolators and support brackets.
• Units to be of specified BTU ratings (e.g., 60,000 BTU for Block A, 36,000 BTU for Block C, 24,000 BTU for Small Boardroom).
• Refrigeration piping of specified sizes (e.g., 3/8", 5/8") with R410A refrigerant, installed with Armourflex insulation.
• Galvanized steel trunking for electrical and refrigerant piping, painted to specified colors.
• Provision of controllers, corrosion treatment, and other ancillary services.
• Adherence to specified standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance processes.
• Completion of work within a two-week timeframe from the official order date.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Registration with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) in appropriate categories.
• Certification from SAQCC for refrigeration and air conditioning work.
• Demonstrated experience in installing and servicing commercial air conditioning systems.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings accurately.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including the use of PPE during site visits.
• Capability to prepare and submit operation and maintenance manuals, asset registers, and warranties.
• Effective project management and site supervision skills.
