Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the replacement of the MV Reyrolle Breaker at Victoria Mxenge Hospital. This includes ensuring electrical system upgrades, compliance with standards, and the engagement of qualified electrical contractors to perform installation, maintenance, and related electrical works.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Replacement of the MV Reyrolle Breaker at Victoria Mxenge Hospital.
• Electrical works including supply and delivery of power cables, cable racks, trunking, LV panels, switchgear, distribution boards, and associated accessories.
• Upgrading existing electrical reticulation to accommodate new breaker installation.
• Provision of all necessary materials, consumables, and equipment for safe and compliant electrical supply.
• Performing electrical maintenance, repairs, and installation works as per specifications and standards.
• Ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Adherence to all relevant standards such as SANS 10142 and Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85, 1993).
• Provision of a Certificate of Compliance for electrical works.
• Use of new, unused, and latest model electrical equipment, preferably SABs marked items.
• Supply and installation of power cables, LV panels, switchgear, and trunking with proper terminations and joints.
• Compliance with municipal by-laws and supply authority requirements.
• Provision of a detailed program of works with minimum operational disruption.
• Preparation and submission of safety and health plans, site inspection reports, and job cards.
• Guarantee of electrical system performance with a Certificate of Compliance post-installation.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires:

• Registration with the CIDB with a minimum grading of 1EB or 1EP or higher.
• Proof of registration as an Electrical Contractor with ECB or DOL.
• Experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair works, particularly in hospital or similar critical infrastructure environments.
• Qualified and trade-tested artisans, specifically Electricians, to carry out the work.
• Proven track record of completing similar electrical projects within the past 10 years.
• Availability of trained technical personnel and necessary equipment.
• Ability to prepare detailed schedules, safety plans, and compliance documentation.
