Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply a 13-month contract for pest control services at Greys Hospital. The services include eradication and control of various pests such as cockroaches, rodents, ants, fleas, flies, white ants, termites, bees, bedbugs, snakes, mosquitoes, and other seasonal pests. The contractor is also responsible for servicing rodent bait stations, treating sewage systems and drains, and providing special treatments for infestations as needed, ensuring a pest-free environment within the hospital premises.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Provision of pest control services over a 13-month period (April 2026 to April 2027).
• Monthly treatments for cockroaches, vermin, and rodents, including servicing of 150 tamper-proof rodent bait stations and drain baiting.
• Special treatments for seasonal pests such as bees, bedbugs, snakes, termites, mosquitoes, and white ants, including safe removal of bee hives.
• Application of approved, non-staining, environmentally friendly pesticides, including Maxiforce Gel (Midacloprid) integrated with surface spray.
• Fumigation and treatment of all hospital areas, departments, wards, storerooms, plant rooms, and basement areas, with minimal disruption to hospital activities.
• Provision of trained, registered technicians to carry out services, with adherence to safety and health regulations.
• Guarantee of treatment effectiveness, with re-treatment at no extra cost if infestations reoccur within guaranteed periods.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of pesticides registered under Act 36 of 1947, compliant with safety standards, and free from organophosphates and organochlorines.
• Application of pesticides strictly according to manufacturers' instructions, with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) provided for all products.
• Implementation of environmentally friendly, odorless fumigation methods using approved liquid gels and insecticide sprays.
• Regular servicing of rodent bait stations and drain baiting, with monthly reports and worksheets documenting treatments.
• Provision of special fly catcher units and safe removal of bees and hives as required.
• Technicians must be registered with the Department of Agriculture, neatly dressed, and carry current registration certificates.
• Guarantee of treatment efficacy, with prompt response (within 48 hours) to pest complaints.
• Adherence to health and safety protocols, including protective clothing for technicians and safe handling of chemicals.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for bidders include:

• Registered pest control technicians with current registration under Act 36 of 1947.
• Demonstrated experience in hospital pest control, including fumigation, baiting, and safe removal of seasonal pests.
• Knowledge of environmentally friendly and safe pest control products and methods.
• Ability to prepare detailed treatment worksheets, reports, and documentation of services rendered.
• Capacity to respond promptly to pest infestation complaints within 48 hours.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to hospital environments.
