Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to provide an annual maintenance service for 5 boom gates at Greys Hospital, ensuring their proper functioning, safety, and reliability through preventive maintenance and necessary repairs.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Performing preventive maintenance on 5 boom gates at Greys Hospital.
• Checking and lubricating mechanical components such as the crank shaft, limit switches, springs, and locking mechanisms.
• Inspecting and testing electrical components including motors, control boards, electrical connections, and remote controls.
• Cleaning and treating surrounding areas to prevent insect infestation.
• Ensuring all mechanical and electrical adjustments meet standard requirements.
• Leaving the site clean and tidy after service.
• Providing a detailed technical report post-service and submitting quotations for any necessary repairs.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) codes and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Use of qualified technicians with valid electrician's certification (Trade test: Electrician).
• Provision of a safety plan and programme of works prior to commencement.
• Submission of proof of registration with CIDB (minimum grade EB).
• Adherence to CIDB standards and specifications for electrical and mechanical maintenance.
• Completion of a detailed technical report after service, including any after-service repairs quotations if needed.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Qualified electricians with valid trade certificates.
• Experience in maintenance and repair of boom gates and similar automated gate systems.
• Knowledge of electrical wiring, control systems, and mechanical components of boom gates.
• Ability to prepare safety plans and technical reports.
• Compliance with health and safety standards and regulations.
• Capability to leave the work site clean and ensure operational safety of the boom gates post-maintenance.
