Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to hire, supply, deliver, install, commission, monitor, and decommission a Nx 3301.185 HT 70kW pump, complete with control panel and cables, for a period of six (6) months at the Lavumisa Pump Station. The project aims to ensure the reliable operation of the water supply scheme, including emergency repairs and ongoing monitoring to maintain optimal pump performance.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, installation, and commissioning of a Nx 3301.185 HT 70kW pump with associated control panel and cables.
• Monitoring the pump operation over a six-month period, including maintenance and breakdown management.
• Decommissioning and removal of the pump and associated equipment after the contract period.
• Provision for emergency repairs with a provisional sum of R100,000 for unforeseen issues affecting pumping operations.
• Specific site conditions such as connection to low lift pumps, flexible pipe connections, and access considerations within a game reserve environment.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the pump and associated equipment are as follows:

• Pump Type: Nx 3301.185 HT, with a 70kW motor, hard iron case, cooling jacket, and a 350mm grey cast iron impeller.
• Discharge Diameter: 150mm, inlet diameter: 200mm.
• Maximum Operating Speed: 1475 rpm, with 2 blades.
• Supply, deliver, install, and commission the pump with a suitable electrical control panel for starting and protection, including overload protection and soft start capability.
• Site monitoring to ensure continuous operation, including maintenance and breakdown response.
• Decommissioning involves complete removal of the pump, control panel, cables, and transport off-site.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Technical expertise in the supply, installation, and commissioning of high-capacity water pumps.
• Experience in operating and maintaining similar pump systems, especially in challenging environments such as game reserves.
• Capability to perform emergency repairs and routine maintenance during the contract period.
• Knowledge of electrical control systems, overload protection, and soft start mechanisms.
• Ability to coordinate site visits, monitor pump performance, and respond promptly to breakdowns or operational issues.
• Compliance with health and safety standards, especially considering site access challenges and wildlife safety precautions.
