Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services on an "as and when required" basis for a period of thirty-six (36) months. The services aim to ensure effective pest management across various facilities operated by Johannesburg Water, including treatment works, pump stations, depots, and other structural installations, through provision of insecticides, pesticides, and related pest control measures.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing pest control services on an "as and when required" basis for a period of 36 months.
• Application of insecticides and pesticides for various pests such as fleas, ticks, lice, cockroaches, and mites.
• Installation and servicing of tamper-proof bait stations (rodent control) every three months, with service reports submitted.
• Performing treatments every six months at specified locations, with reports submitted.
• Use of registered agricultural remedies, with products complying with relevant legislation.
• Providing pest control services at multiple sites, including perimeter exterior areas, waste skip bins, stand-by rooms, offices, kitchens, ablutions, and perimeter walls.
• Submitting pre-treatment notices, valid pest control operator registration certificates, and ensuring products meet specified qualities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of pest control services as specified, including application of registered pesticides and rodenticides.
• Use of products that meet OECD guidelines and contain approved active substances.
• Installation and servicing of bait stations with reports submitted every three months.
• Performing treatments at intervals of six months, with proper documentation.
• Submission of valid Pest Control Operator (PCO) registration certificates issued by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards, including submission of pre-treatment notices and compliance with relevant legislation.
• Random sampling and assessment of pesticides used during the contract period for quality conformance.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from the service provider include:

• Key personnel must possess a minimum qualification of Level 2 SAQA certificate in Pest Control, in accordance with Pest Control Regulations 2(3)(b).
• Personnel assigned to the contract must hold valid registration as Pest Control Operators, as per Pest Control Regulations 2(3)(c).
• Provision of evidence of experience in pest control services, including reference letters or client testimonials demonstrating successful service delivery.
• CVs of key operators outlining relevant experience and expertise in pest control.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed reports on pest control activities, including treatment reports and service logs.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, safety standards, and best practices in pest management.
