Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, off-load, service, remove, and dispose of waste skip bins on an as-and-when-required basis at various Johannesburg Water wastewater treatment works over a period of eight weeks (two months). The service aims to ensure proper waste management, environmental compliance, and efficient waste removal at multiple treatment sites.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of 6m³ solid waste skip bins for collection at five wastewater treatment works.
• Sufficient transportation/trucks capable of lifting and removing the bins to registered landfill sites (Class A and Class B).
• Collection, transportation, and disposal of waste in accordance with national environmental legislation and JW operational standards.
• Submission of service slips, waste manifests, weighbridge slips, and disposal certificates for each serviced skip bin.
• Provision of an assistant during delivery and removal operations.
• Immediate cleanup and spill management if unforeseen spillages occur.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of suitable trucks for lifting and transporting 6m³ steel waste skip bins.
• Compliance with environmental legislation, including waste management standards and landfill regulations.
• Proper documentation for each waste removal, including signed service slips, weighbridge slips, and disposal certificates.
• Immediate response to spillages and adherence to safety and environmental protocols.
• Provision of sufficient personnel, including an assistant during operations.
• Operational readiness to clean and manage spillages and incidents promptly.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Competence in waste transportation and handling, with qualified drivers holding valid licenses.
• Experience in operating and managing waste skip bin services at wastewater treatment facilities.
• Ability to comply with environmental and safety legislation, including spill management and accident prevention.
• Capacity to provide adequate personnel and equipment for timely and safe waste removal.
• Knowledge of documentation procedures, including signing off service slips and disposal certificates.
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards, including PPE use and spill response.
