Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to supply, deliver, install, demonstrate, and train personnel on two key ophthalmic systems: the Zeiss IOL Master 700 Optical Biometer (or equivalent) with instrument table, and the Zeiss Visulus 532 Combi YAG/SLT Ophthalmic Laser System (or equivalent). Both systems include a three-year post-warranty service and maintenance contract. The aim is to enhance ophthalmic diagnostic and treatment capabilities at the 2 Military Hospital, Wynberg, Cape Town, ensuring operational readiness, compliance with safety and medical standards, and providing comprehensive training and support.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply of one (1) Zeiss IOL Master 700 Optical Biometer with instrument table, including accessories.
• Supply of one (1) Zeiss Visulus 532 Combi YAG/SLT Ophthalmic Laser System, including compatible delivery system and accessories.
• Delivery, installation, calibration, and commissioning at the 2 Military Hospital Eye Department.
• Provision of onsite demonstration, clinical staff training, and issuance of competency certificates.
• Implementation of a three-year service and maintenance contract post OEM warranty expiry, covering all spares, labour, travel, and emergency callouts.
• Ensuring systems meet all relevant safety, electrical, and licensing standards, including SAHPRA licensing and compliance with SANS 60601-1.
• Provision of technical support, software upgradeability, and future-proofing features.

Technical Requirements

For the Zeiss IOL Master 700 Optical Biometer:

• Optical measurement via partial coherence interferometry.
• Compatibility with Zeiss Forum network, EMR/PMS integration, and data export via USB.
• Axial length measurement: 14–38 mm; Corneal radii: 5–11 mm; Anterior chamber depth: 0.7–8 mm; Lens thickness: 1–10 mm (phakic), 0.13–2.5 mm (pseudophakic); Central corneal thickness: 0.2–1.2 mm.
• System must be upgradeable with software updates, including biometric formulas and clinical standards.
• System must be mounted on a height-adjustable, castor-equipped instrument table designed for the device.

For the Zeiss Visulus 532 Combi YAG/SLT Laser System:

• Dual-function Nd:YAG and SLT laser with wavelengths around 532 nm, capable of photodisruption and trabeculoplasty.
• Energy range: 9–45 mJ with adjustable pulse modes (single, double, triple).
• Integrated slit lamp delivery system with magnification options (16x, 25x, 40x).
• Motorized patient positioning, optical safety filters, and compatibility with ophthalmic seating.
• Connectivity with DICOM, EMR, and PACS systems; USB data export.
• Support for future upgradeability, safety certification, and compliance with international standards.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in supplying, installing, and maintaining ophthalmic diagnostic and laser systems.
• Technical expertise in system calibration, configuration, and integration with hospital networks and electronic medical records.
• Capability to provide comprehensive onsite training for clinical staff, including structured training sessions, competency certification, and training materials.
• Availability of OEM-authorized technicians for installation, calibration, and ongoing maintenance.
• Ability to deliver prompt technical support and system upgrades, with local support available within 24 hours.
• Knowledge of relevant safety, electrical, and licensing standards, including SAHPRA licensing and compliance with SANS 60601-1.
