Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a suitable service provider to perform calibration services for sound level meters used by the City of Johannesburg's Health Department. The service provider will ensure that the sound level meters are calibrated annually to meet legislative standards, issue calibration certificates for the calibrated equipment, and maintain compliance with relevant accreditation requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Providing calibration services for sound level meters used by the City of Johannesburg.
• Issuing calibration certificates for the calibrated sound level meters.
• Collection of sound level meters from seven regional offices across Johannesburg.
• Transportation and calibration of equipment, with full insurance coverage against accidents, loss, or damage.
• Ensuring calibration is performed in accordance with IEC 61672-1 standards and traceable to international standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• The service provider must be SANAS accredited for calibration laboratories.
• The calibration must be traceable to national or international standards, including certificates for reference standards used.
• Calibration procedures must comply with IEC 61672-1 standards for sound level meters.
• Equipment used for calibration (e.g., Acoustical AC-300) must be regularly maintained and calibrated.
• Calibration certificates must be issued after each calibration, confirming compliance and traceability.
• The service provider must be fully insured against all risks during transportation and calibration processes.

Skills and Qualification Requirements

The tender requires that:

• The service provider's calibration laboratory must be SANAS accredited.
• The provider must demonstrate technical expertise in sound level meter calibration, including knowledge of IEC 61672-1 standards.
• Proof of accreditation, including scope and measurement uncertainties, must be submitted.
• The provider must have experience in calibrating acoustical equipment such as the Acoustical AC-300.
