Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and install 30 hydroboils at Transnet Engineering's Durban Main Centre over a period of six months. The project aims to ensure the provision of functional, compliant, and safe hydroboil units through proper design, installation, testing, and handover, adhering to all relevant standards and safety regulations.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Design, verification, supply, installation (including plumbing work), testing, commissioning, and handover of 30 hydroboils.
• Procurement of materials such as water pipes, couplers, elbows, saddles, valves, plugs, and electrical components.
• Compliance with legislations including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant standards.
• Site inspection, safety assessments, and preparation of documentation and training.
• Provision of warranties, post-installation support, and documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• Hydroboils must have features such as temperature control and be connected to existing 15mm water pipes.
• Materials used must meet specified standards, including stainless steel tanks and appropriate power ratings.
• All equipment and installation must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, SHE specifications, and local bylaws.
• Each hydroboil shall carry a minimum one-year warranty on workmanship and parts.
• Installation must include verification, testing, and commissioning to ensure safe operation for the design life.
• All safety and health protocols, including personnel safety training and risk assessments, must be adhered to.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender specifies that:

• Personnel involved must be registered tradespeople, with proof of PIRB registration and Department of Employment & Labour certification.
• Key personnel must have relevant qualifications, experience, and the ability to prepare detailed project plans and safety procedures.
• Support warranty, local spare parts stock, and a 12-month parts/labour warranty are required.
• Contractors must demonstrate technical competence through project experience, providing verified references for projects involving similar supply and installation of hydroboils within the last five years.
• All personnel must attend safety induction courses, and the contractor must conduct a risk assessment prior to project commencement.
