Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure the supply and delivery of cylinders for low and high pressure applications to Transnet Engineering RM Durban. The process aims to ensure that suppliers provide compliant, quality products within specified technical and contractual requirements, facilitating efficient and reliable operations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply, delivery, and associated services for:

• High-pressure cylinders used on diesel locomotives and compressed air systems.
• Low-pressure cylinders used on diesel locomotives and compressed air systems.
• Related components such as compressors and associated equipment.
• Adherence to specifications, drawings, and scope of work detailed in the RFQ and tender documents.

The scope also includes compliance with technical specifications, timely delivery, and meeting quality standards as stipulated in the tender documentation.

Technical Requirements

• Supply of cylinders with specified dimensions (e.g., 4-inch diameter bore, 7/8 inch diameter bore, 1-inch diameter bore).
• Conformance to specified specifications and drawings (e.g., RS/W435/1996/MARCH/1, Re-work specifications).
• Delivery lead times as specified in the pricing and technical schedules.
• Inclusion of transport costs in the pricing where applicable.
• Compliance with quality standards, warranties (minimum 6 months, preferably 12 months or more), and performance guarantees.
• Adherence to safety, security, and security clearance requirements for personnel involved.
• Provision of necessary documentation, certificates, and proof of compliance with specifications and B-BBEE requirements.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The successful supplier must demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:

• Technical proficiency in manufacturing, reworking, and testing of high and low-pressure cylinders.
• Experience in supplying components for diesel locomotives and compressed air systems.
• Ability to meet specified lead times and delivery schedules.
• Knowledge of relevant standards, specifications, and safety protocols.
• Capacity to provide after-sales support, including warranty services and replacement parts.
• Compliance with legal, safety, security, and confidentiality requirements, including security clearance where applicable.
• Proficiency in documentation, quality assurance, and certification processes, including B-BBEE compliance and reporting.
• Effective communication skills for coordination, reporting, and responding to technical queries or clarifications.
