Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for the Amajuba District Office and EMS facilities, ensuring effective eradication and management of pests and vermin over a 36-month contract period. The services aim to maintain a pest-free environment in accordance with specified standards and safety regulations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of pest control services for the Amajuba District Office, EMS bases, and associated facilities.
• Regular treatment schedules: once every two months for the first six months, then once every three months for the remaining period, totaling 13 services over 36 months.
• Coverage of internal and external areas, including buildings, sewage, stormwater areas, and external surroundings.
• Specific pest types: rats, mice, cockroaches, bird lice, ants, moth larvae, fish moths, wasps, and bees (excluding termites and bees unless separately requested).
• Provision of monitoring, treatment, and prevention measures, including bait stations, gel applications, and nest treatments where applicable.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards as per relevant legislation and standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of non-toxic, odourless chemicals compliant with SABS standards.
• Application of chemicals in all designated areas, including internal rooms, cupboards, sewage, stormwater drains, and external surroundings.
• Proper scheduling and prior arrangement for service visits, with signed documentation confirming completion.
• Provision of a health and safety plan, chemical data sheets, and registration certificates with the quotation.
• Application of pesticides strictly according to approved labels and registration with the Department of Agriculture.
• Use of trained, registered personnel equipped with protective clothing and uniforms.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, including chemical handling, storage, and disposal.
• Provision of insurance, performance security, and adherence to contractual conditions regarding delays, cancellations, and penalties.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required include:

• Registered pest control operators with valid certificates from the Department of Agriculture and the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA).
• Personnel trained in the application of pesticides, safety procedures, and emergency response.
• Ability to prepare and implement health and safety plans, risk assessments, and chemical handling protocols.
• Experience in managing pest control in institutional or similar environments, demonstrated through prior orders or service records.
• Competence in documentation, reporting, and signing off service schedules and inspection reports.
• Capacity to respond promptly to re-infestations and emergency pest issues with qualified staff and appropriate equipment.
