Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the maintenance and servicing of sewer plants at Pholela CHC and Underberg Clinic. The services include annual servicing, inspection, repair, and replacement of components such as sewer pumps and associated equipment to ensure proper functionality and compliance with standards.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Servicing of sewer plants, including pumps (e.g., grinder pumps, Corman Rupp pumps), and associated components at specified facilities.
• Inspection, cleaning, adjustment, and repair of pumps and control systems.
• Replacement of worn or faulty parts such as impellers, gear box oil, float switches, relays, and phase failure relays.
• Testing and commissioning of pumps post-service.
• Provision of spare parts, tools, and technical support as required.
• Adherence to technical specifications and quality standards, including compliance with SABS/SANS 825.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Performing a comprehensive service, including checking electrical connections, cleaning control boxes, inspecting for noise and vibration, draining and refilling gear box oil, aligning pumps, and inspecting pump components.
• Replacing specific parts such as float switches, relays, phase failure relays, and gear box oil with specified quantities and standards.
• Cleaning impeller casings, checking clearances, and ensuring pump and motor components are in good working condition.
• Testing pump operation, including checking for leaks, proper functioning of valves, and motor amperage.
• Providing detailed service reports and ensuring all work complies with the specified standards and specifications.
• Completing the work within the stipulated timeframe, typically within one week from the official order.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Qualified artisans or technicians with relevant experience in sewer pump maintenance and servicing.
• Active CIDB grading of at least 1ME or equivalent, indicating capability to undertake medium-sized projects.
• Proven track record with verifiable orders of similar work, including certificates of completion.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, pump mechanics, and relevant safety standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and service manuals.
• Competence in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing sewer pump systems and associated control equipment.
