Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider responsible for executing pauper burials for indigent persons within the Saldanha Bay Municipality. The service includes handling burials for various age groups and partial remains, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Execution of pauper burials for individuals who qualify, including handling of partial bones or few bones.
• Provision of necessary burial services such as transportation, storage, registration of death, and coffin provision.
• Burials for different age categories: 0-6 years, 6-12 years, and 12 years and older.
• Handling of partial body burials (e.g., skull or few bones).
• Adherence to all relevant regulations and municipal requirements regarding burial procedures.

Technical Requirements

The service provider must:

• Ensure all pauper burials are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and municipal standards.
• Provide refrigeration facilities for corpses on their premises.
• Submit documentary proof from SAPS confirming the body has no claimants prior to burial.
• Supply, erect, operate, and remove lowering equipment using their own labor.
• Ensure all handling, transportation, and burial procedures are performed with dignity and professionalism.
• Comply with the specified documentation requirements, including affidavits and proof of indigence.

Skills Requirements

The service provider should possess:

• Qualified personnel trained in handling deceased bodies with respect and sensitivity.
• Experience in executing pauper burials in accordance with legal and municipal standards.
• Proper refrigeration facilities and equipment for corpse storage.
• Ability to manage documentation such as death registration, affidavits, and SAPS confirmations.
• Capacity to operate lowering and transportation equipment safely and efficiently.
