Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to replace the airconditioners at Port Edward Clinic, ensuring the installation of new split unit air-conditioning systems that meet specified standards for cooling, heating, and operational efficiency. The project aims to upgrade existing climate control infrastructure to improve comfort and functionality within the clinic.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, and installation of two (2) split unit air-conditioning systems with a minimum capacity of 12,000 Btu each, including reverse cycle heating.
• Positioning of units as indicated on site.
• Commissioning and testing of installed units to ensure proper operation.
• Connection of refrigerant piping, electrical wiring, and control systems.
• Provision of weatherproof enclosures, isolators, and necessary accessories.
• Carrying out all electrical and building works in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Providing maintenance and guarantee for 12 months post-installation.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of approved brands such as Samsung or equivalent, with specified capacity and features.
• Installation of split units with high-level mounting, proper insulation, and secure fixing.
• Electrical connections compliant with SABS standards, including 220V, 50Hz single-phase power supply.
• Refrigerant piping in PVC trunking within the building and galvanised trunking outside.
• Inclusion of control systems, filters, condensate drainage, and safety devices.
• Provision of electrical certificates of compliance prior to handover.
• Testing, commissioning, and handover in fully operational condition.
• Maintenance manuals, spare parts lists, and operational instructions.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must possess:

• Valid CIDB registration with ratings EB 1 (Electrical) and ME 1 (Mechanical) for air conditioning and electrical works.
• Qualified electricians and refrigeration technicians with appropriate trade certificates and licenses, including Wiremen’s Licence and Refrigerants Technician certification (SAQCC Gas).
• Experience in installing split type air-conditioning systems in healthcare or similar environments.
• Ability to prepare and implement a comprehensive health and safety plan compliant with Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993.
• Capability to carry out electrical, mechanical, and building works in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
• Proven track record of completing similar projects within specified timeframes and budgets.
