Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint an experienced advertising service provider responsible for selling, managing, and expanding advertising opportunities within the Durban ICC and Durban Exhibition Centre precinct. The service provider will develop strategies to maximize revenue from existing and new advertising platforms, secure and maintain relationships with advertisers and clients, and ensure high-quality, compliant advertising content that aligns with Durban ICC branding guidelines. Additionally, the provider will identify new advertising opportunities, propose creative campaigns, and advise on future upgrades and technological trends in digital signage and advertising.

Scope

The scope of supply and services includes:

• Marketing, selling, and managing advertising opportunities within the Durban ICC and Durban Exhibition Centre.
• Utilization and maximization of existing advertising platforms, including:
• One (1) 4m x 4m digital screen inside the main foyer.
• Two (2) 2m x 2m digital screens inside the ICC Arena.
• Ten (10) 46-inch movable digital totems.
• Various static advertising sites such as escalator branding, boom gates, pillar branding, elevator branding, and walls in foyers/passages.
• Coordination with advertisers to ensure content compliance with branding guidelines.
• Management of scheduling, rotation, and display of advertisements.
• Overseeing installation, removal, and maintenance of advertising materials.
• Logistics management for movable digital totems and strategic placement during events.
• Regular reporting on sales performance, client engagement, and revenue.
• Ensuring content compliance with policies, standards, and legal regulations.
• Safeguarding the Durban ICC brand identity and exploring new advertising opportunities.
• Advising on future upgrades, trends, and innovative advertising campaigns.

Technical Requirements

The service provider must:

• Drive advertising sales on existing digital and static platforms.
• Ensure high-resolution quality and compliance with technical specifications for all digital signage.
• Oversee installation, removal, and maintenance of advertising materials.
• Manage logistics and strategic placement of digital totems during events.
• Maintain cleanliness, functionality, and safety of all advertising sites.
• Provide regular performance and revenue reports with transparent financial records.
• Ensure all advertising content complies with Durban ICC policies, South African advertising standards, and legal regulations.
• Identify and propose new advertising opportunities and technological upgrades.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in indoor/outdoor advertising, with company profile evidence.
• Experience in installing and managing at least 3 digital screens as an advertising agency, supported by references.
• Proven local presence with an office in Durban (proof required).
• A dedicated sales team with an organizational chart and CVs of key personnel.
• Marketing, Business Management, Advertising, or equivalent qualifications.
• At least 8 years’ experience in contract management, strategic sales, client relationship management, and revenue generation.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in lead advertising sales, developing packages, and securing clients.
• At least 3 years’ experience in prospecting, selling inventory, and managing customer accounts.
• Experience in client liaison, campaign implementation, and customer retention (minimum 5 years).
• Graphics design, artwork approval, and creative support experience (minimum 5 years).
• Proof of Public Liability Insurance of R5 million or more.
