Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure pest control services for the Amajuba District Office and EMS facilities. The aim is to ensure effective eradication and control of pests such as rats, mice, cockroaches, ants, moth larvae, wasps, bees, and other vermin, maintaining a pest-free environment in accordance with specified standards and safety regulations.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of pest control services across multiple locations including the District Office and EMS bases (Charlestown, Utrecht, Dannhauser, Madadeni).
• Regular treatment schedules: once every two months for the first six months, then every three months for the remaining period, over a contract duration of 36 months.
• Services to cover internal and external areas, including buildings, sewer manholes, stormwater areas, and surrounding environments.
• Provision of monitoring, treatment, and prevention measures for rodents, insects, wasps, and bees.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards, including chemical handling, storage, and application procedures.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of non-toxic, odourless chemicals approved by relevant authorities.
• Adherence to SABS codes of practice and Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993.
• Registration with the Department of Agriculture for chemical use and application procedures.
• Proper handling, storage, and disposal of pesticides and chemicals.
• Provision of a health and safety plan, risk assessments, and personnel protective equipment.
• Detailed service procedures including prior arrangements, documentation, and sign-off after each service.
• Regular inspection, monitoring, and immediate response to re-infestations.
• Reporting and documentation of services performed, including signed annexures and service schedules.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Qualified and registered pest control operators with valid licenses from the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA).
• Experience in handling pest control in health and government facilities.
• Ability to develop and implement comprehensive pest management plans aligned with safety and environmental standards.
• Capacity to provide timely, effective, and professional pest control services as per schedule.
• Competence in chemical handling, storage, and application, including compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Capability to supply all necessary equipment, tools, and personnel protective gear.
• Effective communication and reporting skills, including documentation and sign-off procedures.
