Objectives

The primary objective of the tender is to provide a comprehensive service for borehole pumps at Edumbe CHC and associated clinics. This includes performing annual servicing, water quality analysis, borehole testing, inspection, repair, and maintenance to ensure the boreholes operate efficiently, supply safe drinking water, and meet the required quality and quantity standards.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Performing borehole pumping tests, including 3-hour pumping tests and 24-hour yield assessments.
• Collecting water samples for quality analysis.
• Cleaning and repairing borehole pumps and well components, including well walls, linings, support posts, and hand pumps.
• Inspecting borehole and pump components for wear and tear, replacing damaged parts, and reassembling equipment.
• Monitoring water levels, well depths, and pump performance using appropriate measurement devices.
• Providing technical reports, water test results, and documentation by qualified hydrologists.
• Carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation to extend borehole lifespan, with detailed pricing for each borehole.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• CIDB grading of 1ME or higher for tender eligibility.
• Experience with similar borehole servicing projects, supported by references or completion certificates.
• Compliance with all relevant legislation, including the Water Services Act, National Water Act, and related regulations.
• Use of approved equipment and materials, including specified borehole pumps, water meters, level measuring devices, and operational valves.
• Adherence to testing protocols such as slug tests, recovery tests, and calibration discharge tests.
• Proper maintenance practices to prevent clogging, incrustation, and corrosion, ensuring borehole longevity.
• Provision of detailed reports, including test data, water quality analysis, and borehole condition assessments.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Qualified hydrologists or water engineers with certification and experience in borehole testing and water quality analysis.
• Technical expertise in borehole development, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in operating and calibrating measurement and testing equipment.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and best practices in water supply and borehole management.
• Ability to produce comprehensive technical reports and documentation.
• Experience in working with government health facilities and understanding of operational safety and compliance requirements.
