Tender Summary

Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a qualified contractor to diagnose, repair, and restore a Wilo split-case pump to full operational efficiency. The project aims to maintain reliable water supply infrastructure performance and ensure compliance with municipal engineering and safety standards.

Scope of Work

The scope covers the complete repair lifecycle of the specified pump. This includes initial condition assessment, safe dismantling, identification and replacement of degraded or failed components, precision reassembly, functional testing, and final commissioning. The contractor must execute all work in accordance with manufacturer specifications, municipal quality assurance protocols, and applicable occupational health and safety regulations.

Technical Requirements

  • Mandatory minimum contractor grading of CIDB 1ME or higher.
  • Proof of attendance at a compulsory site briefing and tender inspection, validated by an official signed briefing certificate.
  • Strict adherence to tender documentation protocols regarding sealing, addressing, delivery methods, and submission formats.
  • Compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines for Wilo split-case pump maintenance, testing, and commissioning.

Skills Requirements

  • Proven competency in centrifugal pump diagnostics, mechanical overhaul, and preventive maintenance.
  • Expertise in precision shaft alignment, bearing replacement, mechanical seal installation, and impeller dynamic balancing.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics, apply correct torque specifications, and conduct hydrostatic and performance testing.
  • Qualified tradespersons holding recognized vocational certifications and documented experience in municipal water infrastructure projects.

Key Terms & Clarifications

  • CIDB Grading 1ME: A South African Construction Industry Development Board classification indicating a contractor with verified mechanical engineering competence. This grading authorizes the execution of water-related infrastructure works within a defined financial limit, ensuring the contractor possesses the necessary technical capacity and financial stability.
  • Split-case Pump: A centrifugal pump design featuring a horizontally split casing along the centerline. This architecture allows technicians to access internal rotating components for inspection and repair without disconnecting suction or discharge piping, minimizing system downtime and simplifying maintenance procedures.
  • Compulsory Site Briefing Certificate: An official document issued upon attendance at a mandatory pre-tender inspection and clarification session. Submission of a tender without this certificate results in immediate disqualification, as it confirms the bidder has physically assessed the asset, understood site-specific constraints, and received critical technical clarifications.

Joint Ventures, Consortia and Subcontracting:

Most large tenders are composed of tasks in a number of different fields, and it is not always possible for a single company to cater for all of them, and therefore Joint Ventures and Consortia are formed to then submit a tender together.

Government tenders are also requiring the subcontracting of a percentage of the tender work, and the trouble is then finding Subcontractors to comply with the tender requirements

To assist companies with finding tender partners and subcontractors, you can now submit your contact details and company information on this page, so other interested parties can contact you for purposes of forming Joint Ventures and subcontracting

You will need to supply your details on every tender you are interested in tendering for. For this you need an active Business Listing - Register and Login at My Account to create a Business Listing

NOTE: This is not a tender application form, it is meant to facilitate the meeting of partners to form a Joint Venture or Subcontractor relationship for this tender only
