Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to supply and deliver materials for the Carpenters and Mechanical Workshop in Mthatha. The successful bidder will be contracted for a period of two years, providing materials as and when required to support workshop operations.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of various building, carpentry, plumbing, glazing, painting, and related materials to the Department of Public Works & Infrastructure at the Mthatha workshop. Items include doors, locks, nails, screws, roofing materials, ceiling boards, plumbing fixtures, glazing products, painting supplies, and other related materials. Delivery must be made during working days, excluding holidays and weekends, to the specified workshop location.

The scope also involves providing proof of compliance, quality assurance, and adherence to technical specifications, including similar or equivalent approved materials that meet or exceed specified standards.

Technical Requirements

• Materials must be similar or approved equivalents to specified brands, meeting SABS standards.
• All items must be new, unused, and of the latest models with all recent design improvements.
• Materials must be properly packaged to prevent damage during transit and storage.
• Delivery must comply with specified timeframes and include all necessary documentation.
• Suppliers must provide warranties, technical manuals, and spare parts as applicable.
• Inspections, tests, and analyses may be conducted to verify compliance with contract specifications.
• Suppliers must ensure VAT compliance and provide relevant registration details.
• Materials must meet the quality and safety standards specified in the bid documentation.

Skills and Capacity Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying similar materials, supported by contactable references.
• Ability to supply quality materials that meet technical standards and specifications.
• Financial capacity demonstrated through a valid bank rating of at least "C" or higher.
• Compliance with tax and legal requirements, including registration on the Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Capacity to deliver materials promptly within stipulated timeframes.
• Willingness to participate in presentations or demonstrations if requested.
• Ability to conduct supplier due diligence, including site visits if necessary.
• Provision of necessary documentation such as resolutions authorizing signatories and compliance certificates.
