ALFRED NZO DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY INVITES TENDERS FOR MAINTENANCE OF WATER AND SANITATION
INFRASTRUCTURE SCHEMES – NTABANKULU LM
It is estimated that tenderers should have a cidb contractor grading of 6ME or higher.
Preferences are offered to tenderers who submit bids for the following projects

Only tenderers who Bids are invited from suitably qualified service providers to prepare and submit proposals to undertake the
reconditioning, repairs and maintenance of Mechanical, Electrical and Civil components of the water services infrastructure for Alfred
Nzo District Municipality, which includes reconditioning and servicing of pumps and engines, groundwater monitoring, maintenance of
electrical installations, reconditioning of dilapidated or failed infrastructure, training and monitoring of pump operators, and monitoring of
all treatment facilities to be fully and constantly functional, assets update and reporting.
Water Supply Systems
Routine inspection and servicing of bulk and reticulation pipelines.
Leak detection and repair on all pipe sizes and materials.
Valve, meter, and hydrant maintenance and reconditioning.
Reservoir cleaning, repair, and maintenance.
Maintenance of chlorination systems and chemical dosing units.
Refurbishment and maintenance of boreholes (mechanical and electrical).
Maintenance of storage tanks, stands, and associated infrastructure.
Wastewater Systems
Maintenance of wastewater treatment works (WWTW), including mechanical and electrical components.
Repair of sewer pipelines, manholes, and pump stations.
Desludging and cleaning of oxidation ponds and septic tanks.
Maintenance of screening, aeration, and sludge-handling units.
Electro-Mechanical Installations
Servicing and repair of pumps, motors, switchgear, MCC panels, and control systems.
Maintenance and calibration of flow meters, level sensors, and telemetry systems.
Replacement of faulty electrical cables, starters, contactors, relays, and other electrical components.
Routine testing and insulation resistance testing of motors and panels.
Civil and Structural Works
Repairs and/rehabilitation of access roads to treatment plant.
Structural repairs to all water and wastewater treatment infrastructures.
Emergency Call-Outs
Provide 24-hour emergency response for critical breakdowns.
Response time not exceeding 4 hours from notification by the Municipality.
The contractor shall provide all necessary labour, materials, equipment, supervision, and transport to execute the works, including the
following:
1)The service provider shall be required to carry out planned mechanical and electrical maintenance of the identified equipment. These
services shall be carried out by qualified and experienced artisans in terms of generic checklists and schedules; however, the service
provider shall be required to generate an individual checklist for every single piece of equipment that is serviced.
2)The service provider shall undertake repairs and breakdown maintenance on all water services equipment referred to or as requested
by the Employer, this shall be in the form of a duly authorized Work Request / Instruction.
3)Maintain access roads to all our water services infrastructure like boreholes, dams, weirs, springs, reservoirs and treatment plants.
4)Structural repairs to all our water services infrastructures.
5)Repairs to all existing water springs.
6)Depending on the urgency of the work; the service provider shall be required to attend to the repairs as follows:

6.1) Extreme Urgency: The Service provider shall be required to respond immediately and commence repairs within three hours,
irrespective of the time of day.
6.2) Moderate Urgency: The Service provider shall commence repairs within 48 hours or by the close of working hours on the following
day.
7)The Service provider shall record all service activity carried out and report any exception or condition that will require additional
attention in order to maintain equipment integrity and reliability. During planned maintenance minor adjustments must be made, as
needed, such as belt tensioning, gland tightening, nipping up leaking joints, lubricant top-ups, tightening loose guards etc.
8)The Service provider shall provide all consumables that will include wire brushes, rags, hand-cleaner, and anti-seize, solvents,
cleaning agents, etc.
9)In the case of lubricants; complete replacement of lubricant in a unity may be charged as spares. Incidental lubricants and top-ups
shall be deemed as consumable.
10)Supply and assist with water or waste water apparatuses as and when required.
11)Assist with all aspect of GDS & BDS on treatment works as and when required by the Municipality.
12)Drilling, sitting and equipping of boreholes.
13) Servicing and maintenance of water and sanitation infrastructure.
14) Hiring of plant for example Jetting machine, TLB, Low bed truck etc.
15) Supply of emergency materials, implements, accessories as and when necessary.
