Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to manufacture, supply, deliver, and maintain low entry trunk buses for the eThekwini Municipality over a period of thirty-six (36) months. The project aims to ensure the provision of reliable, safe, and compliant low entry buses to meet the transportation needs of the municipality.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Manufacturing of low entry trunk buses according to specified standards.
• Supply and delivery of the buses to the eThekwini Municipality.
• Provision of maintenance services for the buses throughout the contract period.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements, as inferred from the occupational health and safety documentation, include:

• Buses must be in good working condition and compliant with safety standards.
• Vehicles must be equipped with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for employees.
• All drivers must obey traffic signs and adhere to speed limits within eThekwini premises.
• Drivers must possess valid medical certificates of fitness.
• The service provider's vehicles must be regularly maintained and in good operational condition.
• The service provider must be registered with the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases or have valid personal accident cover.

The skills requirements for the tender include:

• Ability to manufacture buses that meet technical and safety standards.
• Capability to supply and deliver buses within specified timelines.
• Provision of ongoing maintenance services, requiring technical expertise in vehicle servicing and repairs.
• Compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, including proper training of personnel in safety procedures.
• Effective communication and coordination with the eThekwini Municipality to ensure adherence to site rules and safety requirements.
