Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to upgrade and develop various sports and related facilities in Mogwadi, including sports fields, ablution blocks, guard house, dressing rooms, water and sewer infrastructure, roads, parking, and ancillary structures. The project aims to enhance the community's sports infrastructure, improve sanitation, water supply, and accessibility, and incorporate additional features such as outdoor gyms, indigenous games areas, and lighting to promote sports and community activities.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Site clearance, excavation, filling, and earthworks for all structures and infrastructure.
• Construction of sports fields, athletics tracks, and associated drainage systems.
• Building of ablution facilities, guard house, dressing rooms, and water and sewer reticulation systems.
• Installation of water tanks, pumps, fire hydrants, and associated plumbing and pipework.
• Construction of roads, parking areas, kerbs, and related civil works.
• Provision of electrical works, lighting, and related infrastructure.
• Construction of ancillary structures such as outdoor gyms, indigenous games areas, and signage.
• Provision of provisional sums for specialized items like grandstands, signage, groundwater development, and training.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with SABS standards for materials such as pipes, tanks, and structural components.
• Construction of reinforced concrete structures with specified concrete grades (e.g., 20MPa, 25MPa, 30MPa).
• Use of approved face bricks, face brickwork, and brick reinforcement with specified mortar types.
• Installation of waterproofing, damp proofing, and roofing with galvanised profiled metal sheeting, including accessories and guarantees.
• Construction of drainage and sewer systems with specified pipe diameters and materials, including manholes and inspection chambers.
• Provision of earthworks, compaction, and soil poisoning as per specifications.
• Installation of electrical systems, floodlighting, and related infrastructure with specified standards and guarantees.
• Construction of sports infrastructure including athletics tracks with specified surfacing and marking.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards throughout the project.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in civil, structural, and infrastructural construction projects of similar scope and complexity.
• Competence in earthworks, concrete works, brickwork, waterproofing, roofing, and plumbing installations.
• Capability to manage and coordinate multiple trades including carpentry, metalwork, electrical, and finishing works.
• Ability to procure and handle materials in accordance with standards, including face bricks, reinforcement, roofing sheets, and sanitary fittings.
• Qualified personnel for project management, site supervision, quality control, and health and safety compliance.
• Experience in working with provisional sums and managing subcontractors for specialized works such as grandstands, groundwater development, and lighting.
• Knowledge of relevant South African standards (SABS) and building codes applicable to the scope of works.
