Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to upgrade and develop various sports and associated facilities in Mogwadi, including the construction of ablution blocks, guard house, dressing rooms, sports field (athletics track), water supply systems, sewer reticulation, roads and parking areas, and related infrastructure. The project aims to enhance community sports amenities, improve sanitation, water, and drainage systems, and provide supporting facilities such as lighting, fencing, and signage to promote active lifestyles and community engagement.

Scope

The scope encompasses comprehensive construction and installation works across multiple components, including:

• Preliminary and general site establishment
• Construction of ablution facilities (two blocks)
• Guard house with associated foundations and services
• Dressing rooms with related infrastructure
• Development of sports field including athletics track, drainage, and surfacing
• Water supply systems, including tanks, pipelines, and pumps
• Sewer reticulation, manholes, septic tanks, and associated pipework
• Roads, parking areas, and related markings
• Provision of provisional sums for grandstands, signage, groundwater development, outdoor gym, indigenous games areas, and electrical works
• Additional facilities such as fencing, gates, windows, doors, ceilings, painting, and finishes

The project also includes associated testing, commissioning, and provisional allowances for future works.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify adherence to standards and specifications, including:

• Compliance with SABS standards for materials such as pipes, tanks, and roofing
• Use of approved materials and products, e.g., galvanised roof sheeting, uPVC pipes, concrete mixes, bricks, and finishes
• Construction of reinforced concrete structures with specified strengths (e.g., 20MPa, 25MPa, 30MPa)
• Proper installation of plumbing, drainage, and sewer systems with testing protocols
• Installation of electrical systems, floodlighting, and associated infrastructure
• Application of waterproofing, damp proofing, and roofing to specified standards
• Construction of roads, parking, and sports surfaces with specified compaction and surfacing layers
• Provision of safety signage, fencing, gates, and security features
• Adherence to environmental and safety regulations, including soil poisoning and site safety measures

Skills Requirements

The tender requires a multidisciplinary team with the following skills:

• Project Management: Experience in managing large-scale construction projects, coordination of multiple trades, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
• Civil Engineering: Expertise in earthworks, drainage, road construction, and sports surface development.
• Structural Engineering: Skills in reinforced concrete design, brickwork, and superstructure construction.
• Architectural and Finishing Works: Proficiency in carpentry, joinery, plastering, tiling, painting, and finishes.
• Mechanical and Plumbing: Competence in installing water supply, sewerage, and drainage systems, including testing and commissioning.
• Electrical Engineering: Skills in electrical installations, floodlighting, and safety compliance.
• Environmental and Safety Management: Knowledge of soil poisoning, site safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Specialist Skills: Experience in installing roofing, waterproofing, fencing, gates, and security features.

All personnel must demonstrate relevant qualifications, certifications, and experience in their respective trades to ensure quality and compliance with project specifications.
