Included with the RFI is also tender documents to be able to evaluate all submissions on the functional analysis for completeness. The University of Pretoria herewith invites prospective tenderers to submit the information detailed below in order to be considered for eligibility for the abovementioned tender, which will be issued to shortlisted tenderers only in a subsequent tender stage. If successful, tenderers will be appointed on a “Framework Agreement” for a period of 3 years. The Contractor for this work should be capable of medium to large maintenance and upgrading works on civil infrastructure (Water, Sewer and Stormwater systems). This includes, but is not limited to reparation work of nodes (manholes/inlets/valves etc.) and links (pipes), upgrading of links (removal of old links and replace with new) and the testing and commissioning of the said infrastructure. The Contractor will be required to work hand in hand with the Engineer in order to identify critical areas to be maintained/upgraded, i.e. investigate existing infrastructure and provide possible solutions. The investigation of infrastructure may require the use of CCTV technology in order to inspect the links. The scope of the project is detailed in the Tender Scope Summary. It should be noted that access onto the various sites are restricted, as it the sites form part of the various campuses. Sites will be trafficked by students, staff members and vehicles. Access to all faculty buildings should be maintained throughout the construction period and the shutdown of basic infrastructure (sewer and water) should be kept at a minimum. The purpose of the panel of contractors is to attend to these projects on and “ad-hoc” basis, but also attend to future maintenance projects which will be allocated by University of Pretoria. If appointed, the Contractor will work with the Engineer to do inspections on the existing infrastructure during the inception period of a project. This will ensure that the critical areas, or “hot spots” within a system be addressed first and to ensure effective budget allocation. After the inception phase, a detailed scope of work will be compiled. In general, the scope of work will comprise of, but is not limited to, the following tasks: • Traffic accommodation (motorised and/or non-motorised) • Reparation work on nodes (inlet/outlet structures, valves, manholes etc.) • Remove and replace old links (stormwater, sewer and water pipelines) • Installation of new nodes and links (rerouting of systems/accommodation for future developments) • Sealing/lining of stormwater pipes • Assisting Engineer to compile as-built plans (surveys) • CCTV inspections of system
