Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out renovations to the Emmaus Laboratory at KwaZulu Natal, including additions and alterations to the existing NHLS laboratory facilities. The project aims to improve the laboratory infrastructure, ensure compliance with relevant standards, and enhance operational efficiency.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Design and construction of additions and alterations to the existing laboratory facilities.
• Installation of controlled access points, fire escape doors, ramps, and associated infrastructure.
• Renovation of specific areas such as the manager’s office, reception, general lab, and passageways.
• Preparation of detailed floor plans, sections, and site layouts as per the provided drawings.
• Coordination with municipal authorities for preliminary tender construction requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Preparation of detailed architectural and engineering drawings, including floor plans, sections, and elevations, scaled at 1:100.
• Implementation of controlled access systems, fire escape routes, ramps, and door/window installations as per the design specifications.
• Compliance with existing floor levels and wall plate levels, ensuring proper integration with existing structures.
• Adherence to municipal and safety standards for laboratory renovations.
• Provision of detailed project documentation, including project numbers, revision history, and client drawings.

Skills Requirements

The successful tenderer should possess:

• Proven experience in laboratory renovation and construction projects.
• Strong architectural and engineering design capabilities, with proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of municipal compliance and safety standards relevant to laboratory environments.
