Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services and/or supplies related to various infrastructural and facility management projects, including the construction, maintenance, and upgrade of buildings, pump stations, sewer and water treatment facilities, and associated infrastructure across multiple locations. The aim is to ensure the effective and sustainable operation of municipal facilities and infrastructure within the specified scope.

Scope

The scope encompasses a wide range of construction, refurbishment, and maintenance activities for buildings, pump stations, sewer and water treatment works, and other related infrastructure. It includes:

• Construction and alteration of buildings (brick/mortar, concrete, metal sheeting, etc.)
• Installation and upgrading of pump stations and sewer pump stations
• Water treatment works (WTW) and wastewater treatment works (WWTW) facilities
• Enclosures, small buildings, control rooms, MCC rooms, and auxiliary structures
• Infrastructure upgrades at various erven and locations within the municipality
• Provision of ancillary facilities such as libraries, multipurpose centers, and community halls

The projects span multiple areas including Knysna, Sedgefield, Rheenendal, and surrounding regions, with specific focus on infrastructure supporting water, sewer, and community facilities.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Construction of buildings with specified dimensions and materials (brick/mortar, concrete, metal sheeting)
• Installation of pump stations, MCC rooms, and control infrastructure with galvanised steel sheeting and other specified materials
• Upgrading existing water and wastewater treatment facilities, including enclosures and small buildings
• Provision of structural steel work, roofing, and enclosure facilities
• Implementation of electrical and mechanical systems as per project specifications
• Adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards during construction and upgrades
• Completion of projects within specified timelines and budgets

Skills Requirements

The tender requires contractors and service providers to possess:

• Proven experience in civil construction, including building and infrastructure projects
• Expertise in water and wastewater treatment plant construction and upgrades
• Competence in installing and commissioning pump stations and electrical/mechanical systems
• Capability to manage projects involving complex structural and infrastructural works
• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental compliance standards
• Skilled workforce with relevant technical qualifications and certifications
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple sites simultaneously
