Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure comprehensive pest control services for Joburg City Theatres (JCT). The service aims to ensure a pest-free environment across all JCT venues, including Joburg Theatre, Roodepoort Theatre, Soweto Theatre, Joburg Metro Centre, and Joburg Zoo. The service provider is expected to deliver regular, effective pest management solutions that address pests such as rodents, cockroaches, flies, spiders, fleas, ants, bugs, and moths, thereby supporting JCT’s commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and operational efficiency.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Fortnightly pest control treatments across all specified JCT venues and exterior areas.
• Fumigation of buildings under full supervision with prior notice.
• Ad-hoc chargeable treatments for unplanned pest invasions.
• Inspection and control of crawling insects, rodents, and flying insects through targeted treatments such as residual spraying, baiting, trapping, and misting.
• Provision of service reports detailing pest issues and housekeeping problems.
• Compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Point) standards for food safety.
• Use of odourless, SABS-approved, human-safe pesticides/chemicals.
• Additional inspections, treatments, and re-infestation control at no extra cost if pests reappear between scheduled services.
• Provision of references, experience, and adherence to industry standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Minimum of three years’ experience in commercial pest control services.
• Proof of successful completion of at least five similar projects.
• Registration with relevant regulatory bodies such as PCSIB and/or PMA.
• Use of approved, biodegradable pyrethroid insecticides with no harmful odours.
• Qualified, trained, and well-skilled technicians assigned to JCT premises.
• Effective pest extermination without residual odours or visible smoke.
• Availability of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals used.
• Provision of ad-hoc and emergency services at no additional cost.
• Monthly Quality Control supervision and reporting.
• Compliance with South African Pest Control Association standards and relevant legislation.

Skills Requirements

The skills and competencies required from the service provider include:

• Extensive industry experience in commercial pest management.
• Technical expertise in pest inspection, chemical application, and pest eradication methods.
• Ability to prepare detailed service reports and maintain records.
• Knowledge of HACCP standards and food safety regulations.
• Qualified personnel with proper training in pest control techniques.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and client liaison.
• Capacity to respond promptly to emergency pest infestations.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Ability to provide references and demonstrate successful project completion.
