Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to secure a 2-month contract for portering services at Ngwelezana Hospital. The service aims to facilitate patient transport, mortuary duties, specimen delivery, and other related logistical functions within the hospital to ensure smooth operational flow and patient care.

Scope

The scope encompasses providing portering services across all hospital areas, including patient movement, mortuary duties, delivery of specimens and equipment, and ad hoc support services. The service includes movement of patients (both day and night shifts), deceased patient transfer, specimen transportation, and other miscellaneous tasks as required by the hospital, in accordance with hospital policies and standards.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of 35 personnel for portering duties over a period of 2 months.
• Staff must be trained in patient handling, infection control, and hospital operational policies.
• Staff must adhere to occupational health and safety regulations, maintain hygiene standards, and be properly dressed.
• Provision and maintenance of necessary equipment and materials, including PPE and cleaning chemicals.
• Timely response to emergency and routine movement requests, with specified response times (e.g., 5 minutes for emergencies, 15-30 minutes for routine tasks).
• Compliance with hospital policies, infection control guidelines, and departmental procedures.
• Proper documentation and record-keeping for all services provided.

Skills Requirements

• Experience in portering or similar logistical services, with a minimum of 3 years preferred.
• Ability to handle patients and deceased with sensitivity and professionalism.
• Knowledge of infection control and occupational health standards.
• Good communication skills and ability to liaise with hospital staff and management.
• Capacity to respond promptly to emergency situations and routine requests.
• Proper training in patient handling, specimen transportation, and hospital safety protocols.
