Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, install, and commission a 6000L self-bunded diesel storage tank at Grey's Hospital. The project aims to ensure a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible diesel storage solution that meets technical standards and operational needs.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Supply of a 6000L self-bunded diesel storage tank with specified dimensions and standards.
• Installation of the tank behind the North Ward Block generator room, including civil and electrical works.
• Provision of associated fixtures such as alarms, piping, filtration, and control systems.
• Construction of slab, bund wall, shelter, fencing, and electrical infrastructure.
• Environmental management, monitoring, and decommissioning plans to prevent soil, water, and air contamination.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the tank and installation include:

• Tank capacity: 6000L, fabricated from high-grade S355JR Steel with 5mm walls, UL142 certified, and designed per AS1940/AS1692 and SANS 10131 standards.
• Design features: Interstitial dip space, lockable spill containment, overfill and anti-siphon valves, easy maintenance access, forklift pockets, and crane lugs.
• Installation: Civil slab (L x W x H: 3,000 x 2,300 x 1,300mm), civil works, fencing, shelter, electrical power supply, pumps, control systems, and safety features.
• Environmental compliance: Environmental management plan (EMP), environmental impact assessment (EIA), and safe decommissioning procedures.
• Electrical: Power supply with dual pumps, float switches, control systems, surge protection, lightning protection, and compliance with SANS 10142.

Skills Requirements

The project requires skilled personnel, including:

• Qualified and experienced technicians/engineers with MEI (Minimum Electrical Installation) certification.
• Master electricians familiar with electrical installations per SANS 10142.
• Engineers with expertise in civil construction, including slab and bund wall construction.
• Environmental specialists to develop and monitor EMP and EIA compliance.
• Qualified personnel for installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems, including pumps, control panels, and safety devices.
• Competent technicians for electrical earthing, bonding, lightning protection, and surge protection systems.
