Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure maintenance, servicing, repairs, supply, delivery, and installation of fire equipment at NHLS Sandringham and Braamfontein IT Data Centre for a period of twenty-four (24) months. The aim is to ensure the safety and compliance of fire protection systems, including hydrants, fire panels, alarm systems, fire hose reels, extinguishers, and gas suppression systems, thereby safeguarding occupants and assets.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Maintenance, servicing, and repairs of fire equipment at both specified locations.
• Supply and installation of fire equipment including fire hose reels, extinguishers, fire panels, hydrants, signage, and gas suppression systems.
• Inspection, testing, and certification of fire safety systems in accordance with applicable standards.
• Provision of detailed reports after each maintenance, service, or repair activity.
• Ensuring all work is performed by qualified technicians and in compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Regular inspection and testing of fire hose reels, ensuring labels, safety seals, waterproofing, and waterproof labels are intact.
• Servicing and recharging of fire extinguishers, including checking for damage, corrosion, and proper labeling, and reusing powder where applicable.
• Servicing of fire hydrants, including lubrication of valves and moving parts.
• Installation and replacement of fire equipment such as fire panels, hose reels, hydrants, and gas suppression systems.
• Compliance with standards such as SANS 1567 and SANS 1475, and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
• Provision of detailed reports and documentation for all activities performed.
• Security background checks for personnel involved in the work.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must ensure that:

• All employees are qualified technicians, specifically SAQCC certified for fire detection, suppression, and extinguisher services.
• Technicians possess relevant certifications and registrations, including CIDB grading of 1SF or higher, and registration with the South African Qualifications and Certification Committee (SAQCC).
• All work complies with applicable legislation, standards, and best practices.
• Personnel involved in servicing and installation are trained and experienced in fire safety systems.
• Background checks are conducted on staff, and only vetted personnel are assigned to the project.
