Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations from qualified service providers for the renewal and marking of centreline road markings within Winnie Madikizela-Mandela Local Municipality. The project aims to enhance road safety and traffic management through the installation and renewal of various road markings, including zebra crossings, pedestrian crossings, road intersections, barrier lines, stop markings, and channelizing lanes across specified streets.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Renewal of approximately 8.5 km of centreline road markings in two phases (Q1 and Q2), covering all zebra crossings, pedestrian crossings, and intersections in specified streets.
• Application of centre line, double barrier line, and single barrier line markings in multiple streets including WMM street, K.S Sifile street, Fikile Mlomo street, Dolly Mzayudume street, Michael Dlangamandla street, Mayaba street, Nomangesi street, and Blaai street.
• Installation of stop markings and channelizing lanes at designated locations, including intersections and specific street segments.
• Marking of all road intersections, including the intersection of Sifile street and R61, and other specified junctions.

The work involves both renewal and new application of road markings, ensuring compliance with municipal specifications and safety standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Renewal of all zebra crossings, pedestrian crossings, and road markings as detailed in the project specifications.
• Application of all centre line, double barrier line, and single barrier line markings on specified streets.
• Installation of stop markings and channelizing lanes at all designated locations.
• Use of durable, high-visibility road marking materials suitable for local climate conditions.
• All markings must be compliant with relevant road safety standards and municipal requirements.
• All work must be completed within the stipulated phases and adhere to the specified distances and locations.
• Any alterations or deviations from the original BOQ or quotation schedule must be unsigned; otherwise, the quotation will be invalid.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must possess:

• Proven experience in road marking renewal and installation, with demonstrated capability to handle projects of similar scope and scale.
• Technical expertise in the application of various road marking materials and techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards, traffic management, and municipal regulations.
• Qualified personnel with skills in operating marking equipment and ensuring high-quality finishes.
• Ability to coordinate work efficiently within the specified phases and meet deadlines.
• Compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations during project execution.
