Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure after-service repair of hospital air conditioners at Rietvlei Hospital. The aim is to ensure the proper maintenance, repair, and functionality of air conditioning units to support hospital operations and patient comfort.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of all materials required for repairs and maintenance.
• Carrying out electrical and mechanical repairs on split and central air conditioning units.
• Refilling refrigerant gases, repairing leaks, and replacing faulty components such as motors, condensers, and remote controls.
• Performing repairs on specific units including 12,000 BTU and 24,000 BTU air conditioners across various hospital departments.
• Ensuring installation and repair work is carried out on-site at Rietvlei Hospital with minimal disruption to hospital services.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Compliance with South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and relevant electrical and safety standards.
• Execution of work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
• Specific tasks such as gas refills, leak repairs, motor replacements, and remote replacements, with detailed quantities provided.
• Work to be performed on various units including surgical, mortuary, OPD, pharmacy, laundry, nursery, X-ray, casualty, youth clinic, and paediatric consulting rooms.
• Adherence to health and safety plans, including secure storage of old materials and protection of patients and staff during repairs.
• Completion of work within a specified period of one week from site handover.
• Provision of a Certificate of Compliance for electrical installations upon completion.

Skills Requirements

The bidder must demonstrate:

• CIDB grading of at least 1ME or equivalent, indicating competency in electrical and mechanical work.
• Technical expertise in air conditioning systems, including gas refilling, leak detection, motor replacement, and electrical repairs.
• Experience in hospital or similar healthcare facility maintenance to ensure minimal disruption and compliance with safety standards.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and standards, and execute repairs accordingly.
• Qualified personnel capable of preparing and submitting compliance certificates and technical documentation.
