Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure after-service repair services for replacing air conditioners at various clinics within Estcourt Hospital, including specific clinics such as Zwelisha, Madiba, Conner Street, Ncibidwe, and others. The aim is to ensure effective cooling solutions, proper installation, and maintenance of air conditioning units to support hospital operations and patient comfort.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply, delivery, and installation of new split air conditioning units (various BTU capacities as specified per clinic).
• Removal of old air conditioners and disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.
• Provision of necessary accessories such as cables, circuit breakers, isolators, drain pipes, and mounting materials.
• Electrical work including connection of drain pipes, electrical wiring, and installation of circuit breakers, all performed by qualified electricians.
• Guarantee of one year on all installed units and workmanship.
• Compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and technical specifications.
• Site inspection, coordination, and adherence to project timelines.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All air conditioners must be 12000 BTU split units with remote controls, suitable for the designated clinic rooms.
• Electrical connections must include 20A circuit breakers, isolators, and proper cabling (e.g., 2.5mm² twin suffix cable).
• All electrical work must comply with SANS standards and be performed by qualified electricians.
• Drain pipes must be fixed securely with 22mm white PVC pipes.
• All materials and equipment used must meet SABS standards and be approved for safety and quality.
• Proper mounting to prevent units from falling and ensure they are installed straight and secure.
• Work must be completed within the specified timeframe, with a guarantee period of 12 months.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to possess:

• Registration with CIDB at minimum level 1.
• Valid good standing certificate from the Department of Labour (Compensation Commissioner).
• Qualified artisans with certificates or cards from SAQCC for electrical and refrigeration work.
• Experience in installing and servicing split air conditioning units, including electrical connections and compliance with safety standards.
• Capability to undertake site inspections, coordinate with hospital staff, and adhere to project timelines.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to electrical and HVAC installations.
