Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure annual maintenance services for water tanks within Ladysmith Hospital to ensure their proper functioning, cleanliness, and safety. The service aims to maintain the integrity of backup water storage facilities, prevent contamination, and ensure water quality standards are met for hospital operations.

Scope

The scope includes the comprehensive annual servicing of all water tanks and JoJo tanks across various locations within Ladysmith Hospital. This encompasses draining, cleaning, inspecting, disinfecting, refilling, and ensuring all valves and fittings are operational. The service covers 13 identified tanks located at different hospital sites, including the theatre, nurses' home, laundry, and other designated areas.

• Drain and clean all tanks to remove silt and debris
• Inspect and check ball valves and pipework
• Fill tanks with fresh water and disinfect with biocide
• Place chlorine tablets in each tank
• Ensure all valves are correctly positioned post-service
• Adhere to safety regulations during work, especially at heights above 2 meters

Technical Requirements

• Drain water tanks into designated drainage or garden areas to prevent flooding
• Thorough cleaning and removal of solid silt and debris from tanks
• Disinfection using approved biocides and ensuring walls and ceilings are scrubbed
• Flushing tanks with clean water to remove disinfectant residues
• Refilling tanks with potable water and placing chlorine tablets
• Inspection and testing of valves, pipework, and overall tank integrity
• Compliance with safety standards and use of appropriate safety equipment during height work
• Provision of completion certificates and proof of work for verification

Skills Requirements

• Qualified artisans or technicians with experience in water tank maintenance and cleaning
• Knowledge of water sanitation and disinfection procedures
• Ability to operate and inspect valves, pipework, and associated fittings
• Competence in working at heights safely, including the use of harnesses and safety gear
• Understanding of safety regulations and protocols relevant to hospital environments
• Capability to document and provide certification of completed work
• Effective communication skills for coordination and reporting
