Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a competent and experienced service provider to carry out maintenance and repairs on play park equipment within Bergrivier Municipality. The service provider will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and longevity of the play park equipment from the date of appointment until 30 June 2026.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Maintenance and repairs of existing play park equipment, including specific items such as whirling platforms/roundabouts and see-saws.
• Construction of new bases for existing equipment, including porous concrete bases and wet pour rubber surfacing.
• Overhaul and refurbishment of play equipment components.
• Provision of technical drawings, shop drawings, and specifications prior to commencement.
• Installation of new equipment bases and surfacing as required.
• Adherence to safety standards and compliance with relevant legislation and standards (e.g., SANS 51176 and SANS 51177).

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

1. Whirling Platform / Roundabout

• Galvanized steel components, 3m diameter platform with radial arms, outer band, and handrails.
• Solid steel centre shaft with bearings, mounted on a concrete pedestal with anchor bolts.
• Bright colors (green, red, yellow) and appropriate finish.

2. See-Saw

• Galvanized steel and pipework, 4.5m long beam reinforced at pivot, mounted on bearings.
• Includes seats, hand grips, and supporting structure with galvanized steel pipes and bracing.
• Installed on a concrete and tarmac base with bump stops (tyres).

3. Construction of New Bases and Surfacing

• Excavation, layering with G5 material, compaction, proof rolling, and installation of porous concrete bases.
• Wet pour rubber impact surface, minimum 100mm thick, with warranty provisions.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of play park equipment.
• Technical expertise in galvanized steel fabrication, concrete work, and surfacing installation.
• Ability to provide detailed shop drawings, specifications, and compliance documentation prior to work commencement.
• Capability to undertake construction, refurbishment, and installation work within specified timeframes.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including proof of COIDA registration.
• Provision of contactable references for similar projects successfully completed.
• Knowledge of relevant South African standards (SANS 51176, SANS 51177) and legislation.
