Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service provider to deliver cleaning services at Transnet Port Terminals, Richards Bay, for a period of three (3) months. The scope includes maintaining cleanliness in designated areas, managing spillages, and ensuring safety and environmental compliance to support operational efficiency and safety standards.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Provision of cleaning services across specified terminal areas, including handling spillages of commodities such as coal, chrome, pig iron, ferro manganese, and other bulk materials.
• Cleaning of stockpiles, sheds, quaysides, and weighbridges as required.
• Responding promptly to cleaning requests from operational managers or supervisors.
• Conducting risk assessments prior to work commencement, ensuring safety and environmental regulations are adhered to.
• Providing adequate personnel, tools, and safety equipment for the duration of the contract.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of 60 trained personnel (general workers and supervisors) equipped with necessary PPE.
• Availability of tools such as shovels, heavy-duty brooms, and wheelbarrows, with specified quantities.
• Adherence to safety protocols, including risk assessments, safety signage, and no-go zones around conveyor belts and hazardous areas.
• Responding swiftly to cleaning requests, with flexibility to adjust team sizes based on demand.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, including COVID-19 regulations and hazardous substances management.
• Site-specific safety and environmental standards, including use of PPE, MSDS, and environmental regulations.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in industrial cleaning within port or plant environments.
• Availability of trained and medically fit personnel familiar with safety protocols.
• Capability to respond promptly and adapt to operational demands.
• Knowledge of safety standards, hazard management, and environmental compliance.
• Provision of tools and resources necessary for effective cleaning operations.
• Understanding of health and safety legislation, including OSHA, hazardous substances regulations, and COVID-19 protocols.
