Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to perform maintenance, repair, and related services for the walk-in cold room at JL DUBE HOUSE (KINGS HOUSE) in Durban. The successful tenderer will be awarded based on the highest scoring acceptance bid, considering price, preference points, BBBEE status, vehicle ownership proof, and local content compliance.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Service and repair of the walk-in cold room, including checking electrical connections, re-gassing, leak repairs, and general maintenance.
• Replacement of components such as solenoid valves, capacitors, compressors, and condensers as needed.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes of practice, and municipal laws.
• Provision of technical documentation, safety plans, and certificates of compliance.
• Adherence to specified timelines, including a 30-day service period and submission of detailed work schedules.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the service provider must:

• Have suitably certified and registered artisans/technicians with relevant qualifications.
• Be registered with the Department of Labour, Workmen’s Compensation, and other relevant authorities.
• Comply with all applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, municipal laws, and manufacturer specifications.
• Use approved materials and equipment, ensuring all work is executed to the highest standards and with guarantees of 12 months on new equipment and repairs.
• Issue Certificates of Compliance upon completion of work and ensure all electrical installations have separate breakers and isolators per unit.
• Produce a detailed schedule of work, notify the Works Manager immediately upon completion, and coordinate with site personnel.
• Ensure all work is performed using approved methods, with proper documentation, including signed PA-36 forms, Annexure C, and proof of vehicle ownership or lease agreements.
• Maintain safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the execution of services.

Additional Technical Conditions

• All repair work shall be executed using suitable, approved materials and equipment.
• Replacement parts must be conduit-based, with proper load balancing and separate breakers for each unit.
• Contractors must comply with SANS, OHS, municipal laws, and manufacturer standards.
• All work must be inspected and certified, with adherence to the specified maintenance and safety protocols.
