Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to develop an empty container stack for Pier 1 at Durban Container Terminal, specifically focusing on resurfacing of the area designated as Area 100. The project aims to provide temporary works to ensure the proper resurfacing of the specified area to facilitate container stacking operations for Transnet SOC Ltd.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Resurfacing of the empty container stack area (Area 100) at Pier 1, Durban Container Terminal.
• Provision of temporary works necessary for the resurfacing process.
• Site preparation, civil works, and civil engineering tasks related to the resurfacing.
• Filling, earthworks, and granular base material placement as per specifications.
• Maintenance of the resurfaced areas for a period of 6 months post-completion.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Completion of resurfacing within a contract duration of 2 months.
• Adherence to the Bill of Quantities and specifications outlined in the tender documents.
• Compliance with relevant standards such as SANS 1200 for measurement and quality standards.
• Implementation of civil works including ripping, scarifying, filling with G2 granular base material, and earth filling sub-base.
• Provision of temporary works for site access, safety, and operational continuity.
• Adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations during execution.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Experience in civil engineering works, particularly in resurfacing and site civil works for container terminals or similar infrastructure projects.
• Key personnel with relevant qualifications and experience in civil construction, site management, and quality control.
• Capability to manage temporary works and site safety protocols effectively.
• Ability to coordinate with Transnet and adhere to project timelines and technical specifications.
• Provision of CVs and evidence of past projects similar in scope and complexity.
