Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure and deliver essential electrical materials to Estcourt Hospital to facilitate ongoing building repairs, maintenance, and facility upgrades under the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health.

Scope

This is a one-off supply contract covering a wide range of electrical components and accessories. The procurement encompasses:

• Water heating components (3KW spiral geyser elements and 20A thermostats)
• Wiring infrastructure (PVC extension boxes, surface trunking, flat twin cable, cable clips, connector blocks)
• Switchgear and protection devices (single/double wall sockets, light switches, circuit breakers, earth leakage units)
• Lighting solutions (LED T8 fluorescent fittings, vapour-proof IP65 fittings, LED globe bulbs)
• Accessories and tools (plug tops, butterfly screws, insulated screwdriver sets)

All items are designated for hospital maintenance purposes, with quantities ranging from one roll to one hundred units. Successful bidders must deliver all goods directly to Estcourt Hospital.

Technical Requirements

• SABS/SANS Compliance: Every item must hold current South African Bureau of Standards approval and meet relevant national safety and quality specifications.
• Product Condition: All goods must be brand new, unused, and carry a minimum remaining shelf life of six months from the delivery date. Expired or second-hand products will be automatically rejected.
• Specification Adherence: Bidders must match exact technical parameters, including voltage ratings (220VAC/230VAC), amperage capacities (e.g., 63A earth leakage, 20A circuit breakers), IP ratings (IP65 for specialised fittings), material composition (nickel-plated, polycarbonate, copper conductors), and dimensional standards.
• Pricing & Validity: Quotations must reflect firm, all-inclusive pricing covering transport to the hospital site and applicable VAT. Prices must remain fixed for ninety days.
• Warranty: A twelve-month warranty against defects in design, materials, or workmanship is mandatory.
• Documentation: Bidders must complete official quotation forms, confirm specification compliance, and declare the intended delivery period.

Skills Requirements

As this is a pure supply tender, no specialized installation, engineering, or maintenance skills are required. However, bidders must demonstrate:

• Valid Central Suppliers Database (CSD) registration and active tax compliance status.
• Ability to compile and submit all mandatory administrative returnables (SBD forms, B-BBEE verification, CIPC registration).
• Reliable inventory management and logistics capacity to fulfill specified quantities within the declared delivery timeframe.
• Financial and operational stability to execute a one-off contract without performance security requirements (applicable due to the sub-R1 million threshold).
