Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure employee transportation services for Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) for a duration of one (1) month. The service aims to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient transport for employees across designated routes and shifts, supporting operational efficiency and punctuality.

Scope

The scope includes providing transportation services for TPT employees over a one-month period, covering:

• Transporting employees across specified routes and shifts within the Richards Bay area.
• Adhering to designated routes, schedules, and safety standards.
• Providing a fleet of vehicles including 65-seater buses, minibuses, and taxis as per the route requirements.
• Ensuring vehicles are well-maintained, roadworthy, and compliant with legal and safety standards.
• Managing operational aspects such as route planning, vehicle scheduling, and emergency response.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of a fleet comprising:
  • 10 x 65-seater buses
  • 3 x 35-seater minibuses
  • 11 x 22-seater taxis
  • 6 x 13-seater taxis
• Vehicles must have valid public operating licenses, Certificates of Fitness, and appropriate insurance cover (minimum R50 million public liability insurance).
• Drivers must have valid Professional Drivers Permits (PDP), be medically fit, sober, and free from disqualifying medical conditions.
• Vehicles should be fitted with safety features such as reflective jackets, amber lights, and must comply with TPT security and safety standards.
• Operational adherence to designated routes, schedules, and shift patterns as specified in the tender documentation.
• Implementation of safety and accident procedures, including regular vehicle inspections and driver medicals.
• Compliance with all relevant legislation, including Occupational Health & Safety Act, Road Traffic Act, and other applicable laws.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified and experienced drivers with valid PDPs and clean driving records.
• Drivers must demonstrate sober habits, medical fitness, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Operational staff must be capable of route management, scheduling, and emergency response planning.
• Service providers should have experience in employee transportation, with references from previous clients within the last five years.
• Ability to manage contingency plans, including strike management, emergency procedures, and route adjustments.
• Effective communication skills for coordination with TPT management and staff.
