Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure hydraulic repair services for the K71 Hydraulic Power-Pack at Transnet Port Terminals in Richards Bay. The work aims to ensure operational efficiency, safety compliance, and equipment availability through repairs, refurbishments, inspections, servicing, and replacement of spare parts during scheduled shutdowns.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Hydraulic Power-Pack repairs on K71 units, including dismantling, repairing, replacing parts, and reassembling.
• Inspections, servicing, and testing of hydraulic components such as pressure switches and accumulators (charged to 90 bars).
• Provision of spare parts, consumables, and ensuring quality work adhering to specified standards.
• Methodology development with timelines for the three-day shutdown period.
• Site visits and scope clarifications as needed, with prior authorization from Transnet’s Engineering Manager.

Note: Any deviations from the scope require prior approval, and work must be coordinated to avoid disrupting terminal operations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with Transnet specifications and quality control standards (e.g., EEAM-Q-009, EEAM-Q-020).
• Inspection and testing of electric equipment and hydraulic systems.
• Proper dismantling, repair, and reassembly of hydraulic power-pack components.
• Pressure testing and recharging of accumulators to 90 bars.
• Implementation of safety protocols, including PPE such as reflective vests.
• Coordination with Transnet’s technical team to ensure work is completed within scheduled shutdowns.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in hydraulic system repairs, particularly on hydraulic power-packs similar to K71.
• Ability to provide proof of past work through purchase orders (minimum of 3 PO’s valued at R300k or more within the last 2 years).
• Technical competence in hydraulic component repair, testing, and reassembly.
• ISO 9001:2015 accreditation or equivalent quality management certification.
• Capability to develop and execute a detailed methodology and timeline for repairs within a three-day shutdown period.
• Compliance with safety, security, and site access requirements.
