Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to repair the damaged diesel bowser no.1 and address faults in the holding switch of bowser no.2 at Durban Container Terminal Pier 1. The goal is to restore the bowsers to operational condition, ensuring safe and reliable fueling of operational vehicles.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Repairing the damaged diesel bowser no.1.
• Fixing defects in the holding switch of bowser no.2.
• Performing all work in accordance with the provided scope, with any deviations requiring prior approval.
• Ensuring work is inspected and approved by Transnet, with adherence to safety and quality standards.

The contractor is responsible for conducting work safely, obtaining necessary permits, securing the work area, isolating the bowser, eliminating ignition sources, and containing fuel spills.

Technical Requirements

The contractor must:

• Perform repairs according to the scope of work provided.
• Ensure all work is subject to inspection and approval by Transnet.
• Provide a Health and Safety plan compliant with TPT's Health and Safety Specification, covering emergency preparedness, incident management, PPE, medical fitness, equipment management, supervision, communication, and records management.
• Obtain all necessary permits prior to commencing work, especially when working in substations.
• Provide a valid letter of Good Standing with the Compensation Commissioner or an authorized service provider.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in diesel bowser repairs and maintenance.
• Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive Health and Safety plan.
• Competence in handling fuel containment, ignition source elimination, and safe repair practices.
• Capability to coordinate with Transnet for inspections and approvals.
• Qualified personnel with relevant technical and safety certifications.
