Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a service provider to conduct water quality and effluent monitoring of ground and storm water systems at TPT Saldanha over a period of twelve (12) months. The scope includes groundwater, effluent, stormwater, and evaporation pond monitoring to ensure compliance with environmental standards and facilitate effective water management.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Groundwater monitoring at six (6) well sites, with sampling conducted monthly and quarterly (annual monitoring has been removed).
• Field sampling at seven (7) sites, including six groundwater wells and one marine site in the ocean, potentially requiring boat access due to depth and rocks.
• Effluent water sampling at four (4) sites, with field sampling on a monthly and quarterly basis (annual effluent monitoring scope to be clarified).
• Stormwater monitoring at two (2) sites, to be conducted bi-annually (semi-annual basis), with no monthly or quarterly sampling required.
• Installation of a measuring device in evaporation ponds to monitor build-up levels, with specifications to be agreed upon but no provision for installation costs in the pricing schedule.
• Ad-hoc sampling events, with seven (7) additional sampling occasions as required, sampling all relevant sites.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Conducting field measurements in the field as per the scope, rather than relying solely on laboratory analysis.
• Sampling at specified sites with appropriate access, including marine sampling possibly requiring small boats.
• Installation of accurate measuring instruments for evaporation ponds, with flexibility on the type of device used.
• Provision of comprehensive laboratory analysis for all samples, with specific analytes and parameters as per the scope.
• Preparation of quarterly reports consolidating monthly data, with clear documentation of sampling and analysis results.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider should possess:

• Expertise in environmental water sampling and analysis, including groundwater, effluent, stormwater, and marine water.
• Experience in installing and maintaining water level measurement devices in ponds and other water bodies.
• Capability to conduct field measurements accurately on-site, with appropriate equipment and trained personnel.
• Ability to access marine sampling sites, potentially requiring small boats and suitable safety measures.
• Strong reporting skills to compile and submit detailed quarterly and ad-hoc monitoring reports.
• Compliance with environmental standards and safety regulations relevant to water sampling and monitoring activities.
