Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure high flow oxygen therapy devices suitable for paediatric patients, capable of delivering heated and humidified oxygen at high flow rates, to improve respiratory support in various hospital settings including district, regional, and tertiary levels.

Scope

The scope includes the supply, delivery, installation, calibration, training, and maintenance of high flow humidified oxygen delivery devices specifically designed for paediatric use. The devices must meet detailed technical specifications, be suitable for use in multiple hospital departments, and include necessary accessories and consumables for immediate use on at least 10 patients.

Technical Requirements

• The device must deliver heated, humidified high flow oxygen suitable for paediatric patients from 1kg to 30kg.
• Must incorporate graphical display, humidifier, flow generator/blender, and oxygen sensor with alarms.
• The device should operate off 220V ±10%, 50-60Hz mains power, with a hospital-grade mains plug.
• Flow rate range: minimum 2 L/min to maximum 60 L/min, with increments not exceeding 1 L/min below 25 L/min and 5 L/min over 25 L/min.
• Must comply with ISO 80601-2-74:2017 standards for active humidification.
• Include accessories such as humidification chambers, heated tubing, nasal cannulae, and consumables for at least 10 patients.
• The device must have a minimum 24-month warranty and a comprehensive 5-year maintenance agreement.
• Must be CE certified, with all electrical components compliant with IEC standards and S.A.N.S. wiring codes.
• Must have a well-established local service and repair facility in KwaZulu-Natal or approved subcontractors.
• Provide full training to hospital technicians on calibration, maintenance, and repair down to PCB level.

Skills Requirements

• Technical expertise in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of high flow humidified oxygen devices.
• Ability to demonstrate and train hospital staff and technicians on device operation, safety features, and troubleshooting.
• Proven capacity to provide local service, repair, and calibration support within KwaZulu-Natal.
• Knowledge of electrical safety standards, CE certification, and compliance with IEC standards.
• Experience with hospital equipment maintenance and familiarity with ISO standards for medical devices.
• Capability to supply necessary accessories, consumables, and software updates for device operation and compliance.
