Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure infra-red testing services for electrical distribution boards at Umphumulo Hospital. The service involves thermal imaging of electrical switchboards and switchgear to identify faults, recording thermal images, and providing recommendations to ensure electrical safety and reliability.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Thermal imaging inspection of all electrical distribution boards within the hospital, totaling 60 units.
• Removal and replacement of switchboard or distribution board cover plates during inspection.
• Recording and compiling thermal images of circuit breakers and switchgear faults.
• Providing thermal images with recommendations to the hospital's chief artisan.
• Ensuring all cover plates are replaced after inspection.
• Performing the service as an annual maintenance activity, carried out by qualified artisans with valid SAQCC certification.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All work must be performed by qualified artisans/technicians with valid SAQCC qualifications.
• Thermal imaging must be conducted on all circuit breakers and switchgear for faults detection.
• Thermal images must be recorded, documented, and accompanied by recommendations.
• All inspection activities must adhere to relevant standards such as SABS, SANS, SANAS, and SAQCC.
• All cover plates must be replaced after inspection.
• Service must be completed annually, with all thermal images and reports forwarded to the hospital's chief artisan.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required for the service provider include:

• Qualified artisans or technicians with valid SAQCC certification in electrical work.
• Experience in thermal imaging and electrical fault detection.
• Ability to record, compile, and interpret thermal images accurately.
• Knowledge of relevant standards such as SABS, SANS, SANAS, and SAQCC.
• Competence in providing technical recommendations based on thermal imaging results.
